Garden Grove Elk-Enders Celebrate the Holidays

The Elk-Enders enjoyed two exceptional events this past December, our annual Christmas outing at the Indian Waters RV Resort and our Christmas Dinner at our Lodge

Our annual Christmas Dinner at the Lodge was a fun filled evening, well planned and coordinated by Carol Lawler. Thank you Carol for hosting us. This is a well anticipated gathering of our members and guests. We enjoyed an excellent dinner choice of Turkey or Prime Rib and great conversations and stories which included our traditional singing of the Twelve Days of Christmas. The Christmas gift glasses, with the ElkEnder emblem, will be used with various libations on our future outings. A special thanks to Bonnie Poat. Bonnie made and donated table center-pieces for a lucky winner at each of the tables and to those who donated gift cards as gifts in the Elk Christmas Baskets for teenagers.

With the excellent directions provided by our Wagon Masters Larry and Carol Lamkins and Orville McGee and Marry Ann Ratliff a total of 16 Elk-Ender RVs descended on the Indian Waters RV Resort the first weekend of December, with many arriving on Thursday to further enjoy the weekend and enjoy a John Wayne movie and popcorn. It is a good life. We celebrated Friday morning with an excellent waffle breakfast provided by the resort and on Saturday mornings a delicious Pot Luck breakfast. Our latest newsletter includes several requested recipes. Friday afternoon provided free time to enjoy the local area, lively conversations, putting a large jig-saw puzzle together and welcoming afternoon arrivals. Friday night we enjoyed pizza and desserts from other Elk-Enders. The evening concluded with many of us playing Skru Your Neighbor with the winners donating their winnings to support Purple Pig. After Saturday's pot-luck breakfast many members spent the day shopping at the local Swap Meet, the Tamale Festival, visiting the local air museum or relaxing in the camp ground. We enjoyed a warm afternoon appetizers and liquid refreshments while many continued work on the jigsaw puzzle and those more active played Pickle Ball. Following dinner our normal meeting was conducted with our General Wagon Master, Steve Pavich, thanking our host Wagon Masters for a great. Of course Santa Sheriff, Barbara Eddings, arrived noting all the good and not so good collecting fines to further support the Purple Pig.

All of the Elk-Enders welcome new members for just $15 dues a year. All you need is a recreational vehicle and a desire to have fun. If you do not own one, consider renting one and join us for our next outing. Check the calendar on www.elk-enders.org for events throughout 2014 and 2015.
