Location: Woods Valley

Our January 2018 Elk-Ender campout was held at Woods Valley RV Park in Valley Center, San Diego County. A location that we have camped at in January for over 25 years.

The Wagon Masters, Randy & Janice Eldridge, and the Assistant Wagon Masters, Dan & Robyn Johnson (who showed up all the way from Arkansas) arrived on Wednesday, followed by Assistant Wagon Masters, Mark & Debbie Mahoney, on Thursday to prepare for the arrival of a large group of our campers.

The weather was absolutely fantastic with clear blue skies and moderate temperatures. The perfect weather for camping that lasted all weekend. The majority of campers arrived on Thursday with a few on Friday and Saturday.

Friday was a fun filled day that included a trip to the Bates Nut Farm, a fantastic spaghetti dinner (with Janice Eldridge's famous homemade spaghetti sauce), a card game of Skru-Yer-Neighbor, and an exciting evening of poker with the boys. While the boys played poker, many of the ladies played a new game called Telestrations, a game similar to Pictionary. The ladies were laughing so loud and having so much fun that the boys could hardly hear themselves play poker. It was, however, great to see all of the ladies having such a wonderful and fun time.

Saturday included a long game of "washer boards" with many participants joining in on the fun in the beautiful weather. We had appetizers in the early afternoon and an evening dinner of BBQ your own meat and enjoy salad, baked potatoes with all the fixin's, and dinner rolls. Following dinner was our Saturday night meeting. Randy Eldridge introduced to everyone, Sheriff "nothing gets past me" Steve Pavich who had spent the weekend seeking out "I fought the law and the law won" suspects. The Sheriff did a great job of dishing out Piggy Bank fines to all in attendance.

After the meeting, almost all the campers joined in a fun-filled dice game of "Left, Right, Center".

Congratulations to the following game winners: Washers 1st place Steve Pavich & Ted Casmer, 2nd place was Past Exalted Ruler Jim Hitt & Don Quijada. Skru-Yer-Neighbor 1st place was Lynn Brand, 2nd place Debbie Pavich, 3 place was Gloria Sauer. Most of the winners donated their winnings to the Purple Pig which raised a total of $70.00 for our Major Project. The final winner of the "Left, Right, Center" by a final roll of the dice was the young Jim Young, who counted his winnings like someone who was just overpaid by an ATM machine.
