Mojave Do-It-In-The Dirt and Indian Waters

The Elk-Enders enjoyed two exceptional events this past November and December, our Do-It-In-The Dirt and the Christmas outing at the Indian Waters RV Resort in Indio.

The Larry / Nichole Hoffman Memorial group enjoyed another great Poker run in California City. There were 37 rigs, 4 tents, many toy haulers and about 100 people enjoying the excellent weather. Miles Mahoney, Andrew and Anthony in Marks absence put together a 10 mile plus course that everyone said they enjoyed. Joe, Joe Jr. Spychaj, Don Quijada, Bonnie Hoffman, Debbie Pavich and others helped with sign ups and got everyone started on the course. The Purple Pig was well fed with $269. Bonnie donated all the money she collected from her fabulous Bloody Mary Bar. Mike Avalos again donated $100 along with his son Robert giving back his $20 winnings. Keith also gave back his $20 winnings and a few others did also. Grandpa Woody kicked in $10 because he couldn't ride. He was babysitting his 17 month old Grandson Carter (Janell / Bonnie Hoffman). We also had 7 month old Cooper, Son of Stephanie Spychaj and Bob Cuneo at Check point #1. Joe and and his wife Megan (who is due in March) at check point #4. All 3 of these are our new generation Bike Riders. Jerianne Slape won 1 place $113 and Steve won one of the looser prizes Thank You all for going and supporting this cause. Keep next March in mind - you all are missing a great desert – dry camping trip.

With the excellent directions provided by our Wagon Masters Jim and Nancy Young, Ron and Marilyn Walker, Barbara Eddings and Jay and Evelyn Morrissey, a total of 21 Elk-Ender RVs descended on the Indian Waters RV Resort the first weekend of December, with many arriving by Wednesday to further enjoy the weekend. We celebrated both Thursday and Friday morning with an excellent waffle breakfast provided by the resort and on Saturday mornings a delicious Pot Luck breakfast. Friday afternoon provided free time to enjoy the local area, lively conversations, putting a large jig-saw puzzle together and welcoming afternoon arrivals which included new members Dennis and Pamela Young. Friday night we enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner of lasagna, salad, garlic bread and desserts from other Elk-Enders. The evening concluded with many of us playing Skru Your Neighbor with the winners donating their winnings to support Purple Pig. After Saturday's pot-luck breakfast many members spent the day shopping at the local Swap Meet, the Tamale Festival, or relaxing in the camp ground. We enjoyed a warm afternoon, appetizers and liquid refreshments, watching others play Pickle Ball while many continued work on the jig-saw puzzle. Following dinner our normal meeting was conducted with our President Gary Lawler thanking our host Wagon Masters for a great weekend and awarding the best decorated RV to Kathi Tretter. Gary also discussed the important by-law change to be voted on during the December meeting. Of course Santa Sherriff, Steve Pavich, arrived noting all the good and not so good collecting fines to further support the Purple Pig. A rousing game of Left-Right-Center was played with numerous cheers and Bah-Humbugs among our players. Carol Lawler was the ultimate winner and donated a portion of the pot to the Purple Pig.
