TThe Elk-Enders enjoyed a fun filled weekend of games and a good time at the Vista Elks Lodge in late July. It was HOT!!!!! Those arriving on Thursday were able to participate in the Vista Lodge's "Cook Your Own" special event this was a nice treat for the tired and weary travelers. We had 20 rigs, very nice, small, cozy group.

Thursday night at the Lodge, we purchased our entree and sides and then grilled our steaks or shrimp. Friday morning "Buzz's Bar" opened with appropriate libations to ensure a well-rounded breakfast and the start of the day's activities. In keeping with a well-established Elk-Ender tradition, Happy Hour and appetizers were enjoyed Friday afternoon. Friday the Lodge catered an excellent dinner of Ziti. It was too hot to play outdoor daytime games so we played Skru-Your-Neighbor at night.

Saturday morning our intrepid campers prepared a Pot-Luck Breakfast and visited "Buzzy's Bar" and a tour of a local Antique Steam Museum. We also visited a models maker dream palace, the Joe Martin Foundation Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum in Carlsbad, were fantastic models of cars, planes, trains and anything else you can imagine are there.

It was hot and air conditioning is nice. The fine tradition of Happy Hour continued with Howard Whittaker making and serving Marguerites for all. Dinner consisted of a variety of heavy appetizers. We enjoyed our normal Outing meeting to include a visit from the local law enforcement. We did have a Sheriff (Jim Young) who provided an interesting, unfortunately accurate, detailed listing of the various transgressions our group committed on this outing. Following the meeting a game of L-R-C was played. The evening closed with another campfire and tall and of course true stories. Proceeds from the games and "Buzz's Bar" were donated to the Purple Pig and the Lodge Parking Lot Improvement Fund.

As always, we thank our Wagon Masters for a great weekend and those who were able to participate.
