THE REAR VIEW MIRROR

Location: Woods Valley January 2019

Our January 2019 Elk-Ender campout was held at Woods Valley RV Park in Valley Center, San Diego County, a location that we have camped at in January for over 25 years.

The Wagon Masters, Mark & Debbie Mahoney, ably assisted by Steve and Debbie Pavich Randy and Janice Eldridge and Lance and Sherrie Larson, ensured we had weather that was absolutely fantastic with clear blue skies and moderate temperatures. The perfect weather for camping lasted all weekend. We were a small but lively group this weekend with 11 rigs.

Friday was a fun filled day trip to the Bates Nut Farm, sitting around telling stories, an excellent dinner and a card game of Skru-Yer-Neighbor, Skip Racke and Mark Mahoney were the big time winners.

Saturday morning Pot Luck breakfast was enjoyed by all. After a proper rest the men once again reclaimed victory in a hotly contested Baseball Game with a final score of 12 to 11. We had appetizers in the early afternoon and an evening dinner of BBQ your own meat and enjoyed salad, baked potatoes with all the fixin's, and dinner rolls.

Following dinner was our Saturday night meeting. Our Sheriff "nothing gets past me" Steve Pavich who had spent the weekend seeking out "I fought the law and the law won" suspects. Steve introduced us to a new game called "Pull my Finger". Contestants were bonded together by Chinese/Mexican wicker 6" finger tubes. Players were instructed to pair up and each pair stuck a finger into the tube. They were instructed to walk around the clubhouse picking up objects. Untested, the game failed to cause participants fingers to pop out of the device. 100% of the participants succeeded in completing the obstacle course, so the Sheriff had to draw numbers for the winner. Liana Croft was declared the winner. The Sheriff did a great job of dishing out fines to all in attendance, not just offenders. After the meeting, almost all the campers joined in a fun-filled dice game of "Left, Right, Center" with seven year old Wyatt Ogle the winner, Steve and Debbie's grandson.

We thank our Wagon Masters and assistants and look forward to next year.
